Day Trip – Lake Moogerah, Queen Mary Falls and Condamine River Road

This trip to Lake Moogerah, Queen Mary Falls and Condamine River Road is an intensive one day trip that will allow you to see some beautiful places that will bring you back sooner than you think. Actually, I ended up coming back the next day to show these amazing places to my friends and believe me, there was nothing boring about the second time.

After breakfast near the lake, we went four wheeling along the Condamine River. This is an easy to medium track, but it is not advised after rains, as it has 14 river crossings, and after wet days, some of them could be 2-3 meters deep. The road is also closed in wet conditions, so please respect that closed signs as this track is used by local residents.  Most of the road is going through private property so camping is not permitted, but if you decided to make this a two day trip there is a decent caravan park near Queen Mary Falls.

This track runs between some very nice cliffs and you should look around for very nice landscape views. Be aware about cars coming from another direction, as there are few very narrow parts of the road.

After all of the water crossing we start again on Bitumen Road, which is going to Killanrey, but we will go back by the Spring Creek Rd to see the astonishingly beautiful waterfalls. First on the left we will have the Dagg Falls lookout, it’s just a lookout that you can stop for 5 minutes and see a sample of waterfall view. A few kilometers later there is a big caravan park next to daily rest area where we stop for lunch. For daily use, there are two bushwalk tracks in the area:
-10 minute – just to see Queen Mary Falls from the top
-30 minutes– to go down, and see it from the bottom
And I would say that the longer track is definitely a ‘must see’ place.

Then you can go back (just Bitumen and gravel road) to Boonah, and on the way you can see the beautiful sunset through the mountains
